Broken Top offers numerous lines to both climb and ski, and its right in our backyard! This seldom visited peak in the Central Oregon Cascades is an incredible classroom for both mountaineering and skiing skills. With a range of aspects, big faces and chutes, Broken Top is a hidden gem, and provides some of the best and easily accessible above tree line skiing in the Oregon Cascades.

During this three-day camp, we’ll focus on technical solutions to access difficult terrain such as chutes and big mountain faces. Mountaineering topics will include crampon and ice axe techniques, rope skills, building anchors, pitched snow climbing, belaying and rappelling.

We’ll take transport out to the wilderness line, and make camp near the peak. This means that you’ll never have to ski with an overnight pack on your back! We will take day tours from our camp, and select the best lines to ski based on conditions and weather. We will provide tents, breakfasts and dinners during the 3 days.

This is a fantastic way to spend three days exploring the area, and skiing some bigger lines with one our guides. Many of the skills learned can be applied to future ski mountaineering objectives, and it is a great to way to build a solid foundation for ski mountaineering.

Previous ski touring experience is required. Previous mountaineering experience is not required.
