South Sister is located in the Central Oregon Cascades and stands at 10,358′. As the 3rd highest peak in the state, and a fantastic ski mountain, “South” has a great reputation among the locals in Bend as the premiere, moderate ski descent in the area. From the summit of this Volcano, there are incredible views of Three Sisters Wilderness.

The standard South Side of the mountain provides a 5000′ descent from the wild volcanic summit, down through the tree line, and into the heavily forested lower flanks of Devil’s Hill and Hell Roaring Creek. It is a rarity to click into your skis on the top of a mountain, and ski all the way back down!

There are also more advanced options on the peak, for those looking for some extra adventure. We can help you decide on the most appropriate ski line on the mountain for your group’s skills and experience. The Lewis Glacier Headwall, and the Prouty Headwall are two “off the beaten path” ski descents that are worth considering.

This trip requires a high level of physical fitness. With a minimum climbing elevation of 5000′, skiers should be prepared for a big uphill day.
